A day out in Richmond, Virginia started off at Crème de la Crème Carytown with the enthusiastic manager, Joe Price, who welcomed us and showed us around the store. The store is beautifully curated with unique items, perfect for setting a table or just adding a touch of fun to your home.

After browsing through the store and checking out all the new arrivals, we headed to the Virginia Museum of History and Culture to see the Julia Child exhibit. Julia Child was a remarkable chef and woman who inspired many with her passion for cooking and dedication to her craft. The exhibit was fascinating and gave us a glimpse into her life and legacy.

Feeling inspired by Julia Child's love for French cuisine, we made our way to Beaucuop, a cute French bar that specializes in oysters. We indulged in some delicious oysters and raised a toast to Julia, who was known to enjoy the same.

With Julia's spirit guiding us, we decided to try our hand at mastering the art of French cooking. I picked up a copy of her cookbook and attempted one of her recipes. While I may not have followed the directions exactly, the dish turned out to be delicious and I felt a sense of accomplishment in trying something new.

Continuing on my culinary journey, I tried my hand at making a spinach quiche and a prune tart, using the fresh prunes from our tree. The recipes were simple yet flavorful, and I could see why Julia's approach to cooking resonated with so many.

As the day came to a close, I reflected on the inspiration I had gained from Julia Child and the joy of trying new things in the kitchen. Richmond had offered a perfect blend of art, food, and culture, and I couldn't wait to explore more of what the city had to offer. Julia's legacy lives on in the hearts of many, and I was grateful for the opportunity to experience a taste of her world in Richmond.

The exhibit is open until September 2, 2024.
